I've had blepharitis cause me issues since the age of 14. Age 37 now and still live with it. It got to a stage where it got really bad on one particular holiday in Italy and I finally pulled myself together to do something about it. I was looking online for quite literally anything that would help and this eye mask caught my eye (no pun intended!).

The cost was good and didn't need a huge upfront investment. Something like £8 and ordered from Amazon. It comes with a very florescent blue bag which has been vital for keeping it clean and away from the elements so to speak.

How I use it is pretty simple; You pop it in microwave for about 30 minutes and then let it cool down enough so that it doesn't scold your eyelids but has enough heat to work. (A tip; If it feels too hot, take it off immediately as you will regret it later.) I leave it on for 10 minutes and around the 8-9 minute mark I feel a small amount of liquid go from my eye lid to the mask which I guess is the great thing that it is doing its job as the waxy substance is warmed up and extracted out! Also after 10 minutes, it has usually lost all heat. I usually listen to a mindfulness 10 minute podcast at the same time so its the best of both worlds. I get to slow down and give my eyes a rest at the same time.

My regime was about twice a day and it took a good few months to feel much better. My current regime allows me to leave it a few days and use it when there is a flare-up.

I live and work in London so traveling to work on the tube is always going to be a flare-up threat for me.

Word of note, going on holiday is annoying as most places, hotels that is, I stay in don't have microwaves but certain Airbnb's have them.

To keep it clean, I wash it perhaps once a month in the washing machine and probably replace every 6 months. I probably should improve on that. Presumably the manufacturer will recommend more regularity.

As a long-term blepharitis sufferer, my next purchase will be the Blephasteam eyelid warming mask which I am saving up for but as a budget choice goes, for now, popping this current eyemask in the microwave will do the job. You can buy online, of course, but I have seen this in the eyecare section at Boots stores.
